DANVILLE — The city is taking steps to get land ready for possible industrial development at West Newell Road and Bowman Avenue, near Vermilion Regional Airport.
The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission is set to act on three zoning requests from the city of Danville at its next meeting, set for 5:15 p.m. Thursday at City Hall:
- Rezoning properties at the northwest, southwest and northeast corners of West Newell Road and Bowman Avenue from AG agriculture to I2 general industrial zoning to allow for future industrial development at these locations.
- An amendment regarding development at the intersection to remove a clause limiting nonresidential development along the corridor.
- An amendment to add a $125 fee to the zoning compliance/verification letter.
City officials are not naming any potential suitors for the land involved in the rezoning proposals.
“The proposed amendments are to prepare for any future and potential industrial development at those locations,” said Logan Cronk, the city’s community development administrator.
