If you are looking for something to do you may want to head to Westville today (Sunday, July 6th, 2025) for the ‘Anything On Wheels’ show at the Westville Depot.
Registration is from 9 until noon, with awards to be presented at 2:00 p.m. It is the Third Annual Anything On Wheels show sponsored by the Westville Depot Committee.
The entry fee is $10 with all proceeds going to help restore the depot.
Also today the Vermilion County Conservation District buildings at both Kennekuk County Park and Forest Glen Preserve are open to the public from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. University of Illinois Master Gardeners and a string band will be on hand at Kennekuk County Park. The historic Lamon House at Lincoln Park in Danville is also open.
Another spot you might enjoy visiting is the Douglas Discovery Garden. It is located north of Douglas Park in Danville along Florida Avenue where Douglas Elementary School was earlier demolished. U. of I. Master Gardeners, volunteers and students from the Kenneth D. Bailey Academy in Danville have turned the former school site into a beautiful garden area. Of course it is open anytime, not just today.
