Family-favorite festival returns with more balloons, more food, more fun
DANVILLE, IL — The skies over Danville are set to come alive once again as Balloons Over Vermilion returns July 11–12, 2025 to the Vermilion Regional Airport for a weekend of high-flying fun, family-friendly activities, and community celebration. Now in its ninth year, the event continues to grow — with over 30 hot air balloon pilots from across the country ready to lift off and light up the skies.
Each day of the festival is packed with experiences for all ages:
Take In The Sounds of Summer
The festival’s live music lineup, sponsored by Iroquois Federal, brings local and regional talent to the main stage all weekend long. Pair great music with brews in the beer tent and enjoy an unforgettable summer vibe.

Where The Sky Comes Alive | Hot Air Balloon Fun!
The heart of Balloons Over Vermilion is, of course, the breathtaking hot air balloons — and this year’s lineup promises unforgettable moments for the whole family. Catch a morning or evening flight thanks to the John P. Cadle Foundation. Join us for nightly balloon glows sponsored by Fisher National Bank or take the skies with a tethered balloon ride for $15 per person courtesy of Halloran Family Foundation and thyssenkrupp.
