Vermilion County Board members were told Tuesday evening that no red flags were found during the county’s annual audit. They were also informed by Sandy Cook of Clifton, Larson, Allen, LLP that there is some uncertainty about how federal action will impact the county’s finances.
County Board members also approved a $20-thousand dollar budget amendment for the county’s Drug Court, and an $80-thousand dollar budget amendment to help fund the STEP Recovery Program. The program helps citizens who are dealing with drug and alcohol problems.
The County Board also declared a vacancy in District 1 following the resignation of Ryan Goodner of Hoopeston. He had been appointed to the Board at its April 15th meeting, but the former county sheriff’s deputy resigned from the County Board to become the interim director of the Vermilion County Department of Animal Regulations and its animal shelter on the Catlin-Tilton Road.
County Board members were also told that an application has been filed for a new wind farm in the Hoopeston and Rankin area. The proposal will be considered by the County’s Wind and Solar Sub-Committee during a public hearing which is yet to be set.
