Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – July 20 – July 26, 2025
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
July 21: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Looking for a way to share the magic of gardening with your family? Join our weekly gardening program! Every Monday during June and July at 9:30 am in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
July 21: Level Up Your Nature Knowledge with VCCD. Join the Vermilion County Conservation District and “Level Up at Your Library” with a fun, hands-on exploration of natural ecosystems and wildlife. Visitors can experience interactive displays, tactile elements, and gamified learning, plus take home a curated list of popular nature-themed educational games. It’s a great way for all ages to connect with the environment while leveling up their knowledge! 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Program Room. All Ages
July 21: Proud to Be a Danvillean. Celebrate Danville’s Hometown Stars with Us! Join us every Monday in July from 12-3 PM for a special screening of classic films featuring our very own Danville legends! Mondays in July in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
July 22: Teen Crafternoons. Stop by the library Tuesdays in July and August for an hour of fun, hands-on crafts—think watercolors, origami, bracelets, DIY projects, and more. No registration needed—just bring your creativity and hang out! 3:00 – 4:00 PM on the 2nd Floor.
July 22: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
July 23: Free Wednesday Movie. Families can enjoy a kid-friendly movie together, with free popcorn and a drink available while supplies last. It’s the perfect way to cool off and relax this summer! Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. in June and July.
July 23: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm on the 2nd Floor.
July 23: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
July 24: Teen Cuisine. Join us for Teen Cuisine, a fun and interactive cooking program for students ages 8–13, presented by the University of Illinois Extension Office. This hands-on class teaches essential cooking skills and healthy eating habits, and each participant will receive a workbook filled with recipes to try at home. Space is limited to the first 15 students, so be sure to register early! 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Program Room. Ages 8-13
July 26: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Saturdays for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome – just bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room!
July 26: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. Join us for Sensorial & Bilingüe Aventuras de cuentos, a unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for June’s Hot Air Balloon take-and-make crafts! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
