State Rep Brandun Schweizer recently announced that Danville is one of the area libraries that have been awarded a Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grant from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.
Danville Public Library executive director Jennifer Hess says the library has been fortunate enough to receive this grant each year since she became executive director in 2019. And the amount is usually right around what they are receiving this year; $43,075.90.
Hess says the funding goes to help with the collection of materials for both adult and child library users; and that doesn’t just mean the acquisition of more books. For example, is helps pay for a very modern library service that anyone with a Danville Public Library card can access: THE HOOPLA APP.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: It has e-books, audio books, comic books, movies, TV shows. And usage for the patrons is free. They just need their library card number; and then they can access it on their mobile devices as an app. You can also download the app to a streaming device, if you have like a Roku or a fire stick.
Hess says the actual grant funding should be arriving within about 60 days.
