From being a Danville Viking, to being a Vanderbilt Commodor, to six different stops in the NFL; Trent Sherfield has seen a lot on and off the football field. He recently shared some of those memories on Pat O’Shaughnessy’s CHEERS program.
One item Sherfield recalled was being recruited out of his quarterback – defensive back days at DHS to play defensive back at Vanderbilt. But prior to his freshman season, they asked him to be a receiver. As Sherfield remembers, things finally clicked his second season.

It wasn’t until after my sophomore year, where I had a really breakout year at receiver; where I said “I can do this, I can play at the next level.” And then my junior year I took a dip in production. But then my senior year, I had my best year. And after that, after my senior year, it was like “I can go play.”
Sherfield played for three years with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. Since then; he’s played for the 49ers, the Bills, the Dolphins, the Vikings; and now the Denver Broncos. But one thing Sherfield is very thankful for: he has always made the team.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: You know, some adversity has struck, but I would say there’s been more pros than cons. Every team that I’ve been on, I’ve made the team. I’ve never been cut, never been on a practice squad or anything like that. I don’t say all those things to brag, or anything like that. I really say that to just give God the glory.
