WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Reps. Robin Kelly’s (IL-02) and Bob Latta’s (OH-05) bipartisan Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act to help farmers incorporate technology into their operations. The legislation now awaits consideration in the U.S. Senate.
“In a state where farmers are the backbone of the food supply chain and in a district with over 4,500 farms, I’m proud to provide our farmers with the best wireless technologies,” said Rep. Kelly. “Many farmers provide nutritious foods to our communities, which is needed now more than ever, and this bill will help maximize their yield and profitability. As the Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act passed the House with bipartisan support, I urge my Senate colleagues to do the same.”

The Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act would require the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to review its current satellite rules to determine if rule changes can be made to promote precision agriculture.
