Chief Christopher Yates and the Danville Police Department are getting ready for their 2nd Annual Mini-Marathon at Friendly Town in Lincoln Park, set for 10 AM to 1 PM this Saturday (July 26th). Chief Yates says they will start at 10 with the main run, and then much more afterwards.
AUDIO: And it’s going to consist of a 2.1 mile mini-marathon, as well as several fun runs for the younger children. What we’re trying to do is focus on kids from toddler all the way up to 8th grade; and make sure we can demonstrate some healthy activities that they can do.

There will be much information about healthy foods and activities; as the police partner with OSF, Athletic Education, and other community partners. Chief Yates says Athletic Education is located out west, but there’s a local connection.
AUDIO: It’s a group that’s based out of California, however one of the representatives lives in the area. And it’s a soccer clinic that he uses as an education tool for healthy fitness for kids.
