At the beginning of the weekend, the First of August FIRST FRIDAYS event in Downtown Danville was billed as “Science in City” in Temple Plaza for a hands-on experiments kind of evening. But that was just a tiny part of it. Families, adults, and children were all over North and Vermilion Streets with children doing sidewalk chalk drawings, organizations sharing what they do; and vendors offering things for the upcoming new school year, like books and clothing. Police and fire vehicles were there for the children to see up close.

And how about this, a young lady named Lucy from Catlin was in costume, promoting an upcoming event August 26 through 28th at the Fischer Theatre. We’ll let her tell you what it is.

AUDIO: I’m promoting Spotlight’s new “Winnie the Pooh, Junior” coming up. (Is that a theatre show?) Yes. Spotlight Performing Arts.
The next FIRST FRIDAYS event in Danville will be the Friday after Labor Day, on September 5th.
