Description of Incident:
At approximately 10:13 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025, the Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a two-story commercial structure type building located on Logan Avenue. The building was not in normal use and is owned by the City of Danville.
Engine 1 was first on scene and reported heavy fire on the second floor with visible flames coming from four windows. Due to the volume of fire and the size of the structure, a second alarm was immediately requested.
Crews reported that the fire involved the front third of the second floor and attic space. Smoke conditions were heavy, and multiple windows showed fire behind the glass. All operations were defensive for the majority of the incident.
Ameren Illinois responded and confirmed that gas and electrical utilities to the building had been disconnected.
Interior conditions were assessed after external fire knockdown. Crews encountered light smoke and about a foot of water accumulation on the second floor, confirming fire had not extended to the rear of the building. Final extinguishment was accomplished with coordinated interior and aerial efforts.
