DANVILLE — As more and more solar project proposals continue to pop up in the area — including one the Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission will act on this week — the Vermilion County Farm Bureau is taking more of a stance on the issue when it comes to the approximately 80 percent of farm ground in the county.
The VCFB Board of Directors earlier this year issued its views in a statement when these proposed facilities are being built on fertile farm ground.
“Vermilion County Farm Bureau has a long-standing position of strongly supporting private property rights. We also support a diversified energy policy, which includes renewable energy,” according to the board.
As demand for more energy sources grow, so do the size and scope of renewable energy projects, particularly solar.
