Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – August 17 – August 23, 2025
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. August 19: Stuffed Animal Sleepover. Drop off your favorite stuffed animal at the Children’s Library on Tuesday, August 19th, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm for a fun-filled sleepover at the library! Your stuffed friend will stay the night and get up to all sorts of exciting adventures, and the next day, August 20th, you can pick them up after 3:00 pm along with a special picture book that captures all their mischievous antics from the night before!
August 19: Teen Crafternoons. Stop by the library Tuesdays in July and August for an hour of fun, hands-on crafts—think watercolors, origami, bracelets, DIY projects, and more. No registration needed—just bring your creativity and hang out! 3:00 – 4:00 PM on the 2nd Floor. Ages 13-19.
August 19: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
August 19: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
August 20: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm on the 2nd Floor.
August 20: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
August 23: Financial Fitness – The Power of Budgeting. Could budgeting be your superpower? During this Edward Jones interactive seminar, Financial Advisor Reggie Warfield will explore the power of budgeting, examine wants and needs, and talk personal spending and savings goals. August 23: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Saturdays for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome – just bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 2:30 – 3:30 PM. This week, we will be outside on the lawn!
August 23: Read with a Therapy Dog. Reading is one of the best therapies out there, and now you can share your love of reading with our friendly therapy dogs! By reading aloud to certified pups, you can improve your reading skills and show your furry friend some much-needed love. Visit the library to experience the power of reading with a therapy dog! 1:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
August 23: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for August’s Paintable Magnet take-and-make craft! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Tablets for Tweens. Danville Public Library’s Children’s Department is excited to announce that we have iPads available for Tween use. The iPads are pre-installed with games and apps that are sure to capture the imagination and promote lifelong learning. Tweens can make videos with Stop Motion Studio, record music with GarageBand, design graphics with Canva, and so much more!
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday from 8 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 8 am-4 pm. New craft each week! This week: Seagulls.
