As Homrich Wrecking out of Carleton, Michigan continues the clean up from the Bresee Tower demolition, the remainder of the tall structure at Main and Vermilion is now a giant hole in ground. Director of Public Works David Ruwe said after Tuesday (Aug 19th) evening’s Danville City Council meeting that all is going according to plan. The next step is to fill the hole in.
AUDIO: Finishing up hauling out right now; and kind of breaking up the basement floor, and getting that hauled away. And then we will start the process of backfilling. We have received an update. I think we may be a week or two into September before we see a final completed and seeded project. But we’re definitely getting there, and things are moving; and they’re moving as quick as they can possibly move.
As the former Bresee basement area does indeed come very close to the right lane of westbound Main Street, Ruwe says the backfill will need to be completed before the fence is taken down and the lane is reopened.
