The City of Danville is announcing the temporary closure of Elmwood Park as demolition and renovation work begins on the park’s courts and playground area.
Demolition of the courts began today, and removal of the playground equipment is scheduled to begin the week of September 8, 2025. During this time, the park will remain closed to the public for safety reasons. Visitors are asked to avoid the park entirely so crews can safely and efficiently complete the work.
As part of this project, Elmwood Park will receive a brand-new court and all-new playground equipment, bringing exciting and modern improvements for families and the community to enjoy for years to come.
The park is tentatively scheduled to reopen the week of October 6, 2025.
The City of Danville appreciates the public’s cooperation and patience during this renovation project and looks forward to welcoming residents back once the upgrades are complete.
