THE FOLLOWING IS AN ILLINOIS FEDERATION OF LABOR AFL-CIO RELEASE
VERMILION COUNTY, ILLINOIS FEDERATION OF LABOR AFL-CIO is proud to announce that we will once again sponsor the largest Labor Day Parade in Southern Illinois on behalf of Organized Labor.
For those planning to participate in this year’s parade, please be in you assigned area no later than 915am.
Annual Labor Day parade will Step off at 9:30 am on Monday September 1, 2025.
Parade route will start at the corner of Williams and Vermilion going South to end at the corner of Main and Vermilion.
This year’s Parade Marshall Mary Catherine Roberson: Mary Catherine Roberson is a lifelong Danville resident and mother of three smart and talented young ladies. She began her career in education, providing after school programming to middle school students through Project Success of Vermilion County. Mary Catherine also taught English As a Second Language and American Citizenship to students from over 20 countries. She subsequently worked for the City of Champaign as a Community Relations Specialist before returning to Danville. She currently serves as Director of Constituent Services for U.S. Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly. For her work in Champaign and Vermilion Counties, Mary Catherine was named Central Illinois Business Magazine’s 40 under Forty Woman of the Year in 2022.
Other highlights of our parade include: Youth organizations, beauty queens, several businesses, churches, youth groups, return visit by Captain America, Krazy Karts, and Danville Ambucs.
We are reaching out for volunteers to assist with the staging and line up of our participants. Please report to the Corner of Madison and North Vermilion Street by the War Museum shortly before 8am for assignments.
