ABOVE: Former WDAN-D102-KROCK CEO and GM takes in Kiwanis Pancake Day with his wife Julie and father Ted.
With Kiwanis Pancake Day at the David S. Palmer Arena happening a bit earlier this year; on Thursday, August 28th; it served as a great intro to Labor Day Weekend, bringing back many familiar faces and memories. One of those faces was RAB President and CEO Mike Hulvey. The Danville native and radio veteran said he just happened to be in town, and could not miss this event. And Hulvey was quick to add that he had just spoken with a veteran Kiwanian, who has plenty of Pancake Day experience.

AUDIO: The date lined up, and there’s nothing like the tradition of pancakes and sausage to help the community. So it was awesome. Actually, earlier today, I was with Fowler Connell; who was a long, long, long time volunteer for the Pancake and Sausage Day.
Hulvey recalled that Fowler Connell always had a specific Kiwanis Pancake Day job.

AUDIO: He was always the sausage man. And earlier today I talked to him about that today was Pancake and Sausage Day, and he smiled and he remembered it fondly. But I always remember Fowler, when he was on the sausage duty, you only got three. So tonight we’re going to try and get more than three on our plate.

Pancakes and sausage were served from 6 AM to 8 PM on Thursday.
