As the Danville Labor Day Parade was getting ready to start Monday along North Vermilion Street, numerous labor unions had their floats ready to go. CIMG spoke with Mike Wombles of Operating Engineers Local 841.
AUDIO: We’re here to celebrate the hard work that the men and women have put in, in years past, to give us the liberties was have today.

A few steps away from there was the Danville Education Association, and their president Alan Rivers.
AUDIO: People can see all the labor unions, and how we all come together, for one big event every year. This is a real important event everywhere across the country, for sure.

And around the corner from there, ready to go along North Vermilion, we met up with Ryan Allhands from Laborers Local 703.
AUDIO: I would summarize today as a glorious day. It’s absolutely beautiful outside. And as we see right here, we’re got strength in numbers; everybody showed up today. Laborers Local 703, we’re here today.

The parade stepped off as scheduled at exactly 9:30 AM at Williams and North Vermilion; heading south on Vermilion towards Main Street.
