THE FOLLOWING IS A NORTH RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL RELEASE
North Ridge Middle School band is putting on a drumline competition that is not to be missed. Each drumline is putting together a “show” concept that includes: Ghost v. Zombies, Alien, Halloween Beach Party, Horror Movies, and Titans v Greek Gods … The students are also composing the pieces as a group to match their theme. My son Charlie came home so excited to tell me how his love for Greek mythology was being used. He told me that the kids were writing the opening and concepts by using the big bass drum as “Titans” and the snare drums would be the “Greek Gods”. He was talking about their costume ideas and how they will choreograph the line.They need their community to see a group of kids that are working and using their education well…and SHOW UP. Support and encourage these kids and a great Band Director.
The competition will raise funds for new equipment or equipment repair. Band is such an important part of school for kids. Students learn to read and “speak” a new language. They engage many areas of their brain and body. It keeps them focused on building their life up and working hard, instead of getting into trouble. Right now, Danville kids need help to boost their instrument inventory. We do not want to limit their creativity with broken equipment and instruments. I want the kids to see that the community values them and supports them.
