Jodavious Jones v. Defendant’s Name 2025-CF-454
On September 5, 2025, Jodavious L. Jones (DOB: 6/11/1998), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 2 felony. Jones was sentenced to 9 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and will serve 1-year mandatory supervised release following his term of imprisonment. The plea and sentencing were presided over by Judge Mark S. Goodwin.
The People presented evidence that on June 20, 2025, Danville Police responded to a large outdoor party that had become disruptive. As they arrived on scene, the police heard gunshots and saw people running. Jodavious Jones was seen running away from the police. Jones was observed as he went into an alley and threw away a gun. The police quickly located the gun and Jones was arrested. Jones has three prior felony gun convictions.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Danville Police Department for their swift action to apprehend this repeat offender and to take custody of the gun. The State’s Attorney said, “When convicted felons repeatedly break the law and illegally possess firearms, they endanger the safety of our entire community. My office remains committed to working closely with law enforcement in Vermilion County to hold violent offenders accountable and keep our neighborhoods safe.”
