ABOVE: Pastor Thomas Miller leads the opening prayer for Wednesday evening’s rally in Temple Plaza.
A rally took place Wednesday evening (Sept 10th) in Downtown Danville’s Temple Plaza concerning the community effort needed in finding justice for unsolved murders, such as the tragic shooting death of Aniyah Davis in Winter Park this past summer. Prior to the rally, Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr said the right kind of love and respect will be needed to solve this crime.
AUDIO: We all say that we love Aniyah, that we respected her. But somebody out there who says that they love and respect her knows something; and they haven’t said anything yet. And so I want to challenge them. If you really love, whether it be Aniyah or any victim of crime, and you know something about it; then really show it by respecting and honoring their name and letting someone know.

Danville’s Police Chief Christopher Yates agreed, saying that no one should ever settle for things just being safer than before. One human life lost is way too many.
AUDIO: We just need to keep it fresh in everybody’s mind that we’re not going to quit on this until we’re successful, and get some answers. When you do see something, don’t be sitting idly by while these people hide in our midst. Call them out; and let them (authorities) know exactly who they are. And then we can get some justice.
The rally began with a prayer from Pastor Thomas Miller.
