THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – The Danville Area Community College Library is proud to announce the launch of its new speaker series, That’s a Novel Idea. The inaugural event will feature Dr. Charles Hantz, Distinguished Professor of Political Science, presenting a brief talk on his groundbreaking textbook, The Story of America’s Political System: Why Things Are the Way That They Are.
Dr. Hantz’s book offers an innovative perspective by telling the story of America’s political development through the lens of its political system. It provides readers with a compelling framework for understanding today’s heightened political tensions, why they have escalated, and under what conditions they might ease. Both informative and accessible, the book serves as a comprehensive resource for students while captivating a general audience.
In this engaging 15-minute presentation, Dr. Hantz will share the inspiration behind writing the book and highlight some of its most noteworthy features. Attendees are invited to enjoy cookies and conversation following the talk.
Future talks will be given by Dr. Eric Simonson on Wednesday, October 22, at 10AM and Dr. Jon Wade on Wednesday, November 5, at 11AM. Dr. Simonson will discuss composing for the Cajon, a wooden box used in some Latin music. Dr. Wade will discuss the opportunities offered by the Franklin University 3 + 1 Partnership with DACC, and using the Franklin Pathway Portal. Each talk is scheduled for a brief 15 minutes.
