DANVILLE — The Danville Public Library Board has hired a new executive director who will start Nov. 3.
Board President Mark Denman said the board approved the employment of Christopher Leggins, 30, from Chicago and who has been working in Normal at Illinois State University’s Milner Library, at its Monday meeting.
Leggins takes the place of Jennifer Hess who had been executive director for the past six years.
Denman said they received seven applications for the position and interviewed four applicants. The selection committee consisted of Denman and library board members Treasurer Jane Andrews and Secretary Alice Payne.
