DANVILLE — Remains found in Ellsworth Park that were initially thought to be human have been identified as animal.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, Danville police officers were dispatched to the park after a clean-up crew found a single bone, which they believed to be from a human.
However, an archaeologist from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources later determined that the bone came from an animal, police said.
Illinois State Police Crime Services also assisted with the investigation.
