DANVILLE — Renovations have continued through the years at OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, most recently on patient rooms and the cancer center.
Now, an approximately $6 million upgrade to the labor and delivery unit is in the works.
OSF President J.T. Barnhart gave an update on the hospital at a Friday morning Step Up community group meeting at Second Church of Christ.
The renovation comes as the hospital continues to promote its Family Birthing Center being fully operational again with seven full-time OB/GYNs. Labor and delivery stopped at the hospital from October 2022 to September 2023 due to the lack of obstetric providers.
Barnhart said they are doing about 300 deliveries a year, but there are about 1,200 babies being born from Vermilion County.
