During Tuesday evening’s (Sept 23rd) Danville City Council Public Services Committee meeting, Police Chief Christopher Yates said that the new cameras being placed in city parks are ahead of schedule. He says most are installed, but some still need to be synchronized with existing equipment. But he gave one example of where the new cameras recently led to the arrest of vandals in Winter Park.
AUDIO: We had an incident out there where we had a little bit of vandalism. And the people responsible were identified rather quickly; and we addressed it. They were juveniles, so we can’t release information on the individuals.

Our fire department can install free fire detectors. Just little things like that that we hope will help educate our community, and get them a little bit more involved.
Ollis says the “welcome packets” are scheduled to be distributed by the start of the new year. They will also be available at City Hall and from some title companies.
