Danville’s City Council Chambers overflowed with family and police officers Tuesday (Sept 23rd) morning for the promotions of Lieutenant Doug Miller to Deputy Chief, and Sergeant Jason Jeffries to Lieutenant.

After the ceremony, Deputy Chief Miller talked about the importance of having so many people he has worked with in attendance.
AUDIO: I’m honored to be able to continue to represent these people. And I’m honored that they care enough, and respect this new position and my relationship with them enough, to show up and support me. I truly meant what I said; I’m very humbled by this. And it’s an honor to serve this community; the board, the council, the mayor, the chief, and everybody that showed up today.

Lieutenant Jeffries talked about the support of his family during many years of working off shifts and night shifts.
AUDIO: Yes, and not being able to get to the family functions; and working the off hours, not being there for the weekends; it makes a big difference. And having their support helps push me along in my career. So, I can’t thank them enough for that.

Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr greets those in attendance; Police Chief Christopher Yates speaks at end of ceremony.
Tuesday morning’s Danville Police ceremony came right after a promotion ceremony for the Danville Fire Department.
