THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
**UPDATE WITH ARREST**
On 09/29/25 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Willie J. Danner, a 31 y/o Danville resident, met with Detectives at the Public Safety Building to speak reference this incident. Danner was subsequently arrested and booked into the Vermilion County Jail on an outstanding warrant related to this case for aggravated battery with a firearm.
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released currently.

Original release from 09/25/25
On 09/25/25 around 4:45 a.m., Danville Police (DPD) responded to a residence in the 400 block of Beard St. in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound. It was discovered the shooting took place in the 500 block of Harvey Street.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and eventually released for nonlife-threatening injuries. DPD officers began their investigation, and a court ordered search warrant was obtained for a residence in the 500 block of Harvey Street. The Danville Police Department Emergency Response Unit (ERU) executed the search warrant and secured the residence on Harvey Street.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released currently.
