People v. Joseph Holycross 2024-CF-527
On September 25, 2025, Joseph Holycross (DOB: 3/26/1987), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine, a class 1 felony, and was sentenced to 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Following his term of imprisonment, Holycross will serve 1 year of mandatory supervised release.
The People presented evidence that on July 31, 2024, Danville Police responded to a business on West Main Street for a request to remove a subject who was behaving erratically. Officers identified the suspect as Joseph Holycross. Officers learned that Holycross was serving a term of mandatory supervised release and due to that information officers searched his person. During the search, officers recovered 58.2 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Laboratory analysis by the Illinois State Police Crime Lab later confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “This sentence reflects our commitment to public safety and accountability. The defendant was found in possession of methamphetamine while on parole, and his erratic behavior posed a clear risk to the community. We are grateful to the witness who called for help and for the swift response by the Danville Police Department. We remain focused on ensuring that repeat offenders are held responsible for their actions.”
