THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
People v. Logan Black 2024-CF-622
On October 1, 2025, Logan Black (DOB: 4/11/1998), formerly of Georgetown, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a class X felony. Black was sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections to be served at 85%. Following his imprisonment, Black will serve a term of mandatory supervised release from 3 years to life.
The People presented evidence that on August 31, 2024, Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of sexual abuse of a minor. The minor reported separate acts of sexual contact during the dates of September 7, 2023 and August 31, 2024. Investigations and interviews were conducted by the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center. In a victim impact statement, the victim’s mother described to the Court how the defendant groomed the victim over years to gain trust.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “This child showed extraordinary courage by coming forward to tell the truth. Their bravery not only made justice possible in this case, but will help protect others from harm. My office is committed to giving victims a voice and holding those who prey on our most vulnerable citizens fully responsible.”
