UPDATE – VERMILION ADVANTAGE HAS CONFIRMED THAT MIKE MARRON’S DEPARTURE IS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
On the same day the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s office announced an investigation into misconduct allegations involving county elected officials, the county board, and Vermilion Advantage; Vermilion Advantage CEO Mike Marron announced that he will be stepping down from his post at the start of 2026 to work on the family farm.
Marron stated this in a letter to the Vermilion Advantage Board. (obtained by CIMG)
In taking on this job, I underestimated the intensity and the time commitment outside of normal business hours. To do this job and to do it right requires 24/7 dedication. For the last two years, I have been trying to run this organization and also farm a substantial amount of land, ostensively holding two full-time jobs. As a result, my farm has suffered. I am frequently relying on my Father to do a lion’s share of the work, and Dad is at the age he should be enjoying retirement. Although this decision has been staring me in the face for a while now, I have put it off. While this issue has been on my mind for the reasonsstated, some concerns I have with the Trustee Program and the County’s recent position have brought this to a head.
In an earlier letter to the Vermilion Advantage Board, Marron had expanded on his Trustee Program concerns. (Obtained by CIMG)
