ABOVE: County Board Chairman Steve Miller
Vermilion County Board Chairman Steve Miller says he has confidence in both his situation and the entire County Board’s going into the investigation, turned over by the state’s attorney’s office to the Illinois State Police Special Investigation’s Unit; concerning corruption allegations among county elected officials, County Board members, and Vermilion Advantage.
AUDIO: The only thing I want to say is, to myself, is that I certainly was not a party of any wrong doing, in any of my duties as Chairman of the County Board. And I frankly don’t know of other county board members who had any wrong doing in any of this.

Former Vermilion Advantage CEO Mike Marron
It was Thursday (October 9th) afternoon that the announcement came from Vermilion Advantage that CEO Mike Marron had stepped down effective immediately. Miller stated that others will be more involved than him in choosing Marron’s successor, but it will obviously be a very important move.
AUDIO: There will be others who are more involved with the leadership of Vermilion Advantage than me who will be on that task, I’m sure. But obviously it’s extremely important to our community that we have sound, strong leadership at Vermilion Advantage.
As of Wednesday evening, in a letter to Vermilion Advantage Board members, Marron had stated he’d be open to staying on board through early 2026. But the announcement came on Thursday afternoon that he was leaving immediately.
