For too long, Illinois border cities like Danville and the surrounding Vermilion County region have had to navigate state and national economic shifts while grappling with the challenge of preparing a workforce for modern industry and cutting-edge workplaces.
In my observations and conversations this past year, it is my assertion that the key to stabilizing and growing the local economy is not a distant dream; it is in fact a realistic goal, and the core elements of its achievement are firmly rooted on the campus and in the classrooms of Danville Area Community College.
By providing rigorous, accredited and highly specialized training, DACC is the indispensable and irrefutable engine powering East Central Illinois’ future, particularly in the twin pillars of the local economy: manufacturing and health care.
