A Friday afternoon crash in Danville involving a motorcycle and another vehicle has claimed the life of the cyclist. Danville Police say they responded shortly after 3:30 Friday afternoon to the crash at Gilbert and North Streets. They found a 46-year-old Danville man with severe injuries after striking an auto. The man was transported to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Danville Police are being assisted in their investigation of the incident by an Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team. The car, traveling eastbound on North Street, was struck on the driver-side door by the motorcycle as it passed through the intersection.
The name of the motorcyclist who died has not been released yet by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries were reported.
