The Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office is currently holding their 8th annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Supply Drive. State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy and the office’s Community Affairs Director Lucy Overlander recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show. Overlander reminded everyone that if you are wondering what to donate, think of items that someone escaping domestic violence may have not had time to grab.
AUDIO: We are raising supplies for the Dwelling Place in Vermilion County, and for Crosspoint Domestic Violence Shelter. Things that you wouldn’t even think about grabbing. They need non-perishable food items. They need body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, bottled water.
And as State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy pointed out, some who have escaped domestic violence have young children.
AUDIO: Not just body wash and those kinds of things; but diapers, baby wipes, toothbrushes and that kind of stuff. But it was something for us to get involved in the community, more than what we could do in the courthouse.
Purple donation boxes are at various locations; including Mad Goat Coffee north and south, and at the 112 Wine and Coffee Shoppe in Hoopeston.
