THE FOLLOWING IS A FISCHER THEATRE RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL (November 3, 2025) — The historic Fischer Theatre is proud to announce the appointment of Ashton Greer as its Executive Director, following her successful tenure as Interim Director since May 2025.
Greer, a longtime advocate for community revitalization and a passionate supporter of the arts, has been instrumental in guiding the Fischer through a period of growth, renewal, and operational transformation.
“Ashton has shown extraordinary leadership, vision, and dedication to the Fischer and the Danville community,” said Ruey Sandusky, Board President of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, which oversees the theatre. “Her ability to bring people together and implement sustainable change has set the stage—literally and figuratively—for the theatre’s next chapter.”
Since assuming the interim role earlier this year, Greer has led the theatre through a successful restructuring, resulting in greater financial sustainability and expanded
programming. Under her leadership:
• The annual operating budget was reduced by ~30%, and the organization’s financial reserves have quadrupled, while increasing both the quantity and diversity of
programming.
• A matching donations campaign raised nearly $70,000 in just two months, funding ongoing operations, restoration of the gift shop, and upcoming improvements to the
theatre’s concession area, soon to be named the Terry Lake Café in honor of a beloved volunteer.
• A new flexible staffing model was implemented, creating a more stable and scalable operational structure to ensure longevity.
• Modern systems and efficiencies were introduced across theatre operations, ensuring long-term success and sustainability.
“Since its restoration, the Fischer Theatre has been a symbol of pride and possibility for Danville,” said Greer. “It’s an honor to continue building on that legacy with our dedicated team, volunteers, and donors. None of this is possible without this incredible group of supporters. Together, we’re creating a vibrant, sustainable future for this historic landmark.”
Greer has been deeply involved with the Fischer since 2020, serving in multiple roles including Operations Director, volunteer, donor, board member, and board president. Beyond her work at the theatre, she brings more than a decade of professional experience across healthcare, government, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial sectors.
As a graduate with a master’s degree in organizational leadership, Greer is co-founder of Fred & Ma LLC, a company dedicated to revitalizing downtown Danville through the restoration of historic properties. She also founded Clarity Design Company, where she serves as a Fractional COO and Leadership Consultant. In 2024, she was appointed to the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission, and she was recognized as an Emerging Female Leader in Illinois at the Illinois Women in Leadership event.
Under Greer’s direction, the Fischer Theatre continues to gain solid footing and forward momentum. Numerous capital improvements are underway, ensuring that this treasured venue remains a cornerstone of Danville’s arts and culture for generations to come.
