ABOVE: DeAndre Day speaks to Danville City Council about Jelani Day Foundation’s hosting of Central Illinois HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Fair; Thurs Nov 6th in DHS Fieldhouse, 4:30 – 7 PM.
During Tuesday’s Danville City Council meeting, it was mentioned that the Jelani Day Foundation will be hosting the 6th Annual Central Illinois HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Fair; Thursday, November 6th from 4:30 to 7 PM in the Danville High School Fieldhouse. DeAndre Day says please sign up ahead of time, and come to learn about places where someone in your family can continue their education.
AUDIO: We ask everybody to register. It’s a free event, but you do have to register to gain access and entry to the event. So you can go to Eventbrite, type in “HBCU fair,” and grab a ticket.
Another event mentioned is this Saturday’s (Oct 25th) BOO BASH at Lincoln Park and Friendly Town, 5 – 7 PM. Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates says that once again a full team will offer families a great time.
AUDIO: (We have) 40 different groups setting up; so many this year that a lot of them are doubling up, and partnering with different places. Plus, with all the locations we have out there, we’ll also have separate booths to add to the 11-13 structures that we already have. I believe there’s going to be possibly a surprise of another hay ride.
On a serious note, CIMG spoke with Chief Yates about the high number of accidents on the roads lately. He emphasized that while driving, don’t just think about where you are starting and where you are finishing. Think about everything you go by in between as well.
AUDIO: When you’re going from point A to point B; put the phones down, concentrate more on the streets, and the other vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, what you do to the radio, or anything else. We understand people are in a hurry, and often get distracted. But just please; be careful, be safe.
And one other mention from Tuesday’s Council meeting was Alderman Ed Butler talking about the Three Kings of Peace event at Lowes this Saturday the 25th. Starting at 8 AM they’ll be building beds for families in need; and anyone can stop by and help.
