Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. November 17: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be learning about Harvest of Thanks! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
November 18: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes! 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
November 18: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Studies show plants can help remove toxins from air, alleviate depression and improve our mood. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners as they discuss houseplants and share advice based on horticulture research and their personal experience. Call 217-442-8615 for more information. 6:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
November 18: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
November 19: Fall Bingo for Seniors. Join us for a morning of fun games and great prizes sponsored by Help at Home. 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
November 19: Teen Crafternoons. Stop by on Wednesday afternoons for an hour of fun, hands-on craft. This week: Pumpkin “THANKS” Boxes! No registration needed, just bring your creativity and hang out! 4:00 – 5:00 PM on the 2nd Floor. Ages 13-19.
November 19: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
November 19: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
November 22: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Saturdays for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome – just bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 2:30 – 3:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
November 22: Novel November Meet-Up. Every November, writers around the world challenge themselves to finish their current works – and we’re here to support that journey! Local authors are invited to gather every Saturday this month to write, network, and check in with fellow creatives in a safe, supportive space. 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Garman Room.
November 22: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a take & make craft! Enjoy November’s Pumpkin Pegboard Sting Art. While supplies last.
