Description of Incident:
The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 601 North Beard Street at approximately 10:43 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Upon arrival, first-arriving companies found a fully involved detached garage fire with flames extending into the residence and threatening a nearby garage structure.
Firefighters from multiple crews advanced handlines to the garage, the residence, and the nearby exposure to protect surrounding property. Occupants who had fled the home advised firefighters that everyone was out; however, while performing a walk around of the building, the incident commander spotted a flashlight moving on the second story of the residence.
Firefighters from Engine 1 were immediately ordered to perform a rescue. Crews from Station 1 quickly placed a ground ladder to the second-story window, entered the home, and rescued the individual by ladder. The victim was treated on scene by Arrow Ambulance personnel and released. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Crews remained on scene until 12:51 AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, performing overhaul and assisting with the investigation — a total on-scene duration of approximately 2 hours and 8 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Danville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
