THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Vermilion County Works, the Illinois Department of Human Services, and Illinois Department of Employment Security are hosting a SNAP Work Requirement Resource Fair at Danville Area Community College’s Bremer Theater Thursday, November 13. Two sessions will begin at 9:00AM and 2:00PM.
SNAP work rules are changing. Illinois adults ages 18–64 without dependents must complete 80 hours a month in work, volunteering, or training to keep benefits. The SNAP Fair will bring together partner resources to help individuals explore pathways to build skills, stay compliant, and move toward lasting self-sufficiency.
One option is training/education. DACC offers a variety of short-term certificate and career training programs that meet the new federal SNAP requirements. Adults can choose from options in healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and public service fields that qualify as approved job training activities. Many programs can be completed in less than a year and lead directly to employment. Vermilion County Works staff can help individuals understand the new requirements and the ways that DACC can be useful to them.
Registration is currently underway for the Spring 2026 semester. Information about programs and course schedules will be available at the Resource Fair.
