THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL – At approximately 2:13 a.m. on November 14, 2025, Danville Police responded to a residence in the 2900 block of East Main Street following reports of an armed individual.
The complainant told officers that 36-year-old Marquil L. Brown of Georgetown, IL, was visiting the home, armed with a handgun, and behaving erratically. The resident requested Brown’s removal.
Officers attempted to contact Brown, but he refused to cooperate or exit the residence. The Danville Police Emergency Response Unit (ERU) was activated and also attempted negotiations, which were unsuccessful. ERU members then entered the home and took Brown into custody without further incident. A search of the residence located the handgun described by the complainant. Officers confirmed Brown is a convicted felon currently on parole, making his possession of the firearm illegal.
Brown was booked into the Danville Public Safety Building on preliminary charges of:
Unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon
Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (UUW)
Obstructing justice
Criminal trespass to residence
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
