ABOVE: Work has been progressing on Seven Point of Illinois’ “Smoke Lab at Seven Point” consumption lounge.
In the midst of Tuesday night’s (Nov 18th) Danville City Council meeting, there was a single action item put forth by the Public Services Committee under the “City Clerk’s Report” category. It was the successful approval of an application for the planned consumption lounge at the Seven Point of Illinois cannabis dispensary.
As Seven Point CEO Brad Zerman explained; while previous council action had approved the possible existence of consumption lounges at dispensaries in Danville, Tuesday night’s action was for approval of Seven Point’s specific application for a consumption lounge. He says, sure, an opening in time for the holidays would be great; but final state approval of their specific plan is still needed.
AUDIO: A whole packet of like, our standard operating procedures; basically how we’re going to run the lounge; and keep people safe, and all that.

Seven Point of Illinois CEO Brad Zerman addresses Danville City Council at start of Tuesday evening’s meeting.
Seven Point is already known for both cannabis products and vinyl records. And Zerman says the name for Seven Point’s lounge will be the Smoke Lab at Seven Point, with plans for fun and musical entertainment.
AUDIO: Basically, we call it like a “lab” because we’re experimenting with cannabis and music in that lounge. That’s what’s going on in there.
Zerman also says the goal is to make this consumption lounge a great overall place to be.
AUDIO: We’re also serving snacks in there; a whole big wide variety of things. Everybody’s going to be wanting food in the evening activities.. You know, smoking cannabis kind of makes you hungry.
And speaking of food, Zerman added that one thing he’s working on is an agreement with an established Danville restaurant for a food truck on site. Seven Point of Illinois is located at 380 Eastgate Drive, along the west side of Lynch Road.
