Vermilion County is updating its animal control rates with the city of Danville.
DANVILLE — At the start of the year, Vermilion County Board Chairman Steve Miller said changes were needed for the county to recoup what it costs to provide animal-control services to the city of Danville.
Tonight, the Danville City Council’s Public Services Committee will consider approving rate hikes for the Vermilion County Department of Animal Regulation to continue providing animal control, care and public safety services in the city.
Eleven years since the two sides last signed a contract, county officials conducted a review of operational expenses and recommended updated rates, which the city finds “to be fair and reasonable,” according to the resolution prepared for tonight’s meeting.
