DANVILLE — A holiday favorite is returning to the Danville High School stage this weekend.
The Danville Symphony Orchestra is continuing its 2025-26 season with a special holiday matinee performance of “The Nutcracker,” set for 2 p.m. Sunday in Dick Van Dyke Auditorium.
Maestro Matthew Sheppard will lead the orchestra in a live performance of Tchaikovsky’s Christmas classic. The concert will also feature Von Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet in its 35th anniversary performance and dancers from Vermilion County.
“Only here in Danville, ‘The Nutcracker’ is one of those fabulous, one-of-a-kind opportunities of the holiday season where you get to see a live orchestra and a live ballet all together,” Sheppard said. “We can’t wait to share it with all of you.”
The show is made possible by the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation. Tickets are still available, with seats remaining on the main floor and balcony for $35 and $45. Student tickets are $10.
