A weekend of Dick Van Dyke celebration (Dec 6th and 7th) at the Fischer Theatre’s “Van Dyke Fest,” one week ahead of his 100th birthday (Dec 13th); included the magic moment of the “Dick Van Dyke, 100th Birthday Celebration” documentary being shown for the first time, Saturday evening for a Danville audience. Included was an appearance by Danville Barbershop Chorus Director Marty Lindvahl leading a special group of “Chimney Sweeps” (above and below, Lindvahl in middle of back row in below picture) prior to the documentary’s showing.

Afterwards, in a loud and crowded Fischer Theatre lobby; CIMG had a chance to speak with Shanan Hoag of Tilton, Gary Brew of Rantoul, and Patrick Halloran of Danville for their reviews of the documentary.
Locals interviewed for the movie included Sue Richter, Mike Hulvey, and Jeanie Cook.

Dick Van Dyke movies shown Sunday the 7th were Bye Bye Birdie, The Comic, and Mary Poppins.

Prior to the showing of the documentary, State Senator Paul Faraci presented a proclamation recognizing Dick Van Dyke’s special weekend to Fischer Theatre Director Ashton Greer.
