Danville Area Toys for Tots, covering Vermilion County in Illinois and Fountain and Warren Counties in Indiana, are in the final stages of this year’s drive. A special on location collection of new, unwrapped toys; as well as cash donations; is happening today (Thurs Dec 11th) until 7 PM at CrossRoads Christian Church, 3613 North Vermilion in Danville.
Coordinator Gabi Ingold says they need items for all ages, but a couple specifics in particular.
AUDIO: For ages seven to 15, and then also we’re kind of short on two and three year olds. So really we need everything. From two to 15, we’ll take anything you give us.
Santa Claus and one of his helpers were there when CIMG stopped by this morning; asking folks to stop by.
AUDIO: (Santa) There’s kids out there that need gifts. And they need to come out and support all the children, bring a new unwrapped gift, and donate it. Anything we can get.
AUDIO: (Helper) And this time of year with the cold, sometimes it’s easy to forget that generosity factor. But you know organizations like Toys for Tots just remind us of how one domino can kind of carry on to the next.
Donations can still be made through Sunday (Dec 14th) by calling Gabi Ingold at 217-474-4323. Those receiving toys; sign ups were taken through December 1st; will be picking them up at assigned times next Tuesday the 16th and Wednesday the 17th at St. James United Methodist Church. Tuesday’s times will be 8 AM to 4 PM, and Wednesday’s times will be 8 AM to 1 PM.
