In her rookie year as coordinator for Danville Area Toys for Tots; serving Vermilion County in Illinois, and Warren and Fountain Counties in Indiana; Gabi Ingold saw it all come together Tuesday (Dec 16th) for the distribution at St. James United Methodist Church. It turned into a sunny day, with melting snow and temperatures above freezing. But Ingold said it was quite challenging when the day started at 4 AM.
AUDIO: Thanks to my husband and his friend Michael Aames, we could not have done it without him. They loaded a truck at four in the morning. They loaded an entire semi. They had icicles in their beards. I thought it wasn’t going to happen; but it happened, and here we are. And it’s come together real beautifully.

Wednesday’s second day of distribution will run 8 AM to 1 PM. And Ingold emphasized that items for 10 to 15 year olds, and also blankets; and still very much needed. So if you make any final donations, take them right to St. James at 504 North Vermilion. Ingold expressed thanks for all of her volunteers; with special mention of those from North Ridge Middle School, and the Salt Fork Future Farmers of America.
