Project Success of Vermilion County programs at two Georgetown-Ridge Farm Schools will as of now be discontinued on December 31st because of some grant money being pulled. Project Success CEO Kimberly David told CIMG that the issue is the loss of the Full Service Community Schools Grant, which supports programs at Pine Crest Elementary and Mary Miller Junior High in the Georgetown – Ridge Farm district.
David stated in a letter to parents that Project Success grantor ACT NOW OF ILLINOIS has submitted an appeal to the US Department of Education, and that Project Success plans to work hard seeking other funding sources to support their after school programs in partnership with the Georgetown – Ridge Farm School District.
AUDIO: For our Pine Crest Elementary in Georgetown, and Mary Miller Jr High in Georgetown; we’ve lost our Full Service Community Schools Grant that comes through the federal government. It was a five year grant, where we were at about 1.5 years; and we found out on Monday that we’re losing the funding effective 12/31 of 25.
The letter to parents also stated that Project Success programs at Georgetown – Ridge Farm High School, as well as other districts in the area, will remain active and open’
As for the two affected schools: There will be an afterschool program at Pine Crest for a limited number of identified students, about 45, starting January 5th. Also, a limited number of identified students at Mary Miller, about 15, will have an afterschool program available at Georgetown – Ridge Farm High School.
In addition, all Project Success programs involving Georgetown – Ridge Farm District students will not have bus transportation home starting January 5th.
