Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. January 12: Genealogy Workshop. Join us every 2nd Monday for our Genealogy Workshop Series. This month: Jacqueline Woodard-Smith will lead “Cleaning up the Clutter,” offering tips to organize your paper files and digital records. Perfect for anyone looking to start the year with a more organized family history! 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
January 13: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Pixel Portraits – Design your own gaming avatar using graph squares! Create a retro-inspired look that’s totally YOU – block by block. While supplies last. 3:30 – 4:30 PM on the 2nd Floor. Ages 13-19.
January 13: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
January 13: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under. Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
January 14: Celebrate! Join the Children’s Department each month to learn about and celebrate different cultures with stories and food. This month we will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a celebration of culture with our guest Jacquie Woodard-Smith. 5pm-6pm in the Program Room.
January 14: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
January 14: Ukulele Music Club. Join the Ukulele Music Club every 2nd Wednesday for beginner basics at 5 PM and a group jam session at 6 PM – both welcoming all skill levels! Bring your own uke or borrow one of our limited extras and enjoy making music together. The club may even perform around the community! January 15: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Thursdays for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome – just bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the Program Room.
January 16: Pixels & Popcorn. Movie Nights at the Library! Every other Friday during our Winter Reading Challenge, enjoy video game-themed movies and free popcorn. Don’t forget to sign up for the Pixels & Pages: Winter Reading Challenge on Beanstack for a chance to win awesome prizes, too! 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
January 17: Bilingual Family Fun: Lotería! Join Cecilia Perez and family for an afternoon of fun playing Lotería, a traditional Mexican board game similar to Bingo! Come play and win unique prizes.
