DANVILLE — Though the impending closure of Danville’s Hyster-Yale facility is still months away, community officials are already stepping to help its employees.
Last month, Hyster-Yale announced plans to transition operations from its Danville Parts Distribution Center to a larger, more modern facility in Avon, Ind., a western suburb of Indianapolis.
After more than 50 years in operation, the facility at 1010 E. Fairchild St. no longer aligns with the scale and complexity required for Hyster-Yale’s evolving needs, the company said.
A phased transition will be completed by fall 2026, and the Danville location will close at the end of the year.
At a Step Up community meeting Friday, Vermilion Advantage board member Jeff Fauver said that of the company’s about 220 employees in Danville, half are warehouse workers and the others hold office positions.
“Some of the affected employees will be offered transfers,” he said, noting such decisions will be made this quarter.
